Join QPL Community Health for a discussion with NYU Professor Krishnendu Ray and NYC-based cook, journalist, and recipe developer Anikah Shaokat. Together, they’ll explore how food preserves culture, connects generations, and reflects the Bengali-American experience.
Professor Ray is a leading scholar and the author of several books examining Bengali American food, South Asian cuisine, and immigrant foodways in America. He is also the former Acting Associate Dean for Curriculum Development at The Culinary Institute of America.
Born and raised in Bangladesh, Anikah Shaokat will share insights into Bengali food traditions and their enduring influence on New York’s diverse culinary landscape. Anikah’s work has appeared in SAVEUR, Food & Wine, Epicurious, and other publications.
