Join us for a virtual author talk with award-winning writer Paula Yoo as she discusses her wide-ranging career in young adult nonfiction and television (Supergirl, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists and The West Wing) and her latest book. “Rising from the Ashes: Los Angeles, 1992. Edward Jae Song Lee, Latasha Harlins, Rodney King and a City on Fire.”

Yoo will also talk about her writing and research process and offer advice to young writers who are interested in breaking into creative writing, nonfiction writing and television.

Yoo’s other books include: “From a Whisper to a Rallying Cry: The Killing of Vincent Chin and the Trial that Galvanized the Asian American Movement,” the young adult novel “Good Enough,” and children’s picture book biographies “Shining Star: The Anna May Wong Story,” “Sixteen Years in Sixteen Seconds: The Sammy Lee Story,” and “Twenty-Two Cents: Muhammad Yunnus and the Village Bank.”

This event is open to middle and high school students and educators.
