Potluck Asian America is joining forces with the community-based Theater Takeover Tuesdays crew to support the new animated film Hoppers across two special dates!

Theater Takeover Tuesdays is a grassroots moviegoing group organized by Julie Huang and friends that brings communities together to support films, particularly those connected to Asian and Asian American actors, writers, directors, and creators. The gatherings began during the SAG-AFTRA strike, when artists could not promote their work in the usual ways and people were eager to reconnect after years of COVID isolation.

Everyone buys their own ticket, showing up simply to support the film and the artists behind it. After the screening, the audience often gathers in the theater lobby for a group photo or short video to capture the moment.

From time to time, actors, writers, directors, stunt performers, and others connected to the film stop by to meet the audience. The dream is to bring artists and communities together in a joyful, authentic way while encouraging more organizations to join the effort and help fill theaters through the simple act of showing up.
