Dr. Amanda Chang is a second-year Internal Medicine resident at Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center. She is a daughter of Chinese immigrants and a Bay Area native who grew up in San Jose and attended UC Berkeley for college. She went out to Chicago to complete medical school at Northwestern University, and was delighted to be able to return to the Bay Area for residency and serve the diverse community of the East Bay. In her free time, she can be found running around Lake Merritt, hiking with her Shiba Inu on one of the many scenic trails in the area, or exploring new food spots.

Dr. Jeff Velotta‘s clinical interests involve all aspects of thoracic surgery, especially minimally invasive lung and esophageal surgery, image-guided surgical techniques for small lung nodules, and multimodality treatment of mesothelioma. Along with his colleagues, he is committed to maintain Kaiser Permanente in Oakland as a center of excellence for the Bay Area and continue its values and success.

In addition to his full-time clinical duties at Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center, he is a clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine. His role entails teaching and training UCSF medical students and surgery residents throughout the course of the year. He is very interested in surgical quality research pertaining to outcomes in minimally invasive surgeries for lung and esophageal cancer. He currently has ongoing studies pertaining to novel ways to provide better pain relief after thoracic surgery, multimodality treatment of mesothelioma, and the incidence and outcomes for never-smokers with lung cancer.

His wife, also a Bay Area native, is an internal medicine physician at Kaiser Permanente. In his spare time, you can find him with his two young boys at the park or on the beaches of Hawaii.
