This Filipino American History Month, we’re exploring a largely forgotten chapter of Brooklyn’s past. 🇵🇭 💙 Filipino seamen and their families once built a vibrant waterfront community in the working-class neighborhoods around the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Urban renewal and changing immigration policies eventually erased much of this history—but contemporary historians, artists, and community members are working to remember and reimagine it.
