#RaceAnd Ethics in Government

September 18, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am PDT
Virtual Event
Hear from former federal leaders on how government ethics informs choices and decisions that are inclusive of racial equity.

Ethics represents a set of norms that inform or guide how civil servants carry out their official duties. Because civil service is a privilege rather than a prize, it is important to protect its integrity and ensure it is not marred by the excesses of power, abuse, and exploitation.

Amid changing political landscapes, civil servants are encouraged to remain grounded.  In addition to having an internal compass that guides personal conduct in the workplace, the highest goals of civil service – fulfilling a promise to the Constitution and the public – have always required wrestling with broader considerations, including equity.

For this webinar, discussants will offer thoughtful commentary about government ethics.  They will explore the connections between government ethics and racial equity.  Also, discussants will clarify how blind-spots are created when government ethics fail to account for racial equity.

Participants in this webinar will be reminded how government ethics informs choices and decisions that are inclusive of racial equity.
