Join us for Asian Pacific Heritage Month to explore South Asian resilience, past struggles, and how history fuels advocacy and belonging!

In recognition of Asian Pacific Heritage Month, this session will explore the history of hate and discrimination faced by South Asians in the United States, highlighting the resilience and resistance that have defined our communities. Our speakers will examine the roots and evolution of anti-South Asian sentiment, uncovering how these historical narratives continue to influence present-day experiences and inspire collective thriving.

Moderator

  • Sufyan Sohel is a social impact consultant, nonprofit advisor, and human rights attorney whose career has focused on combatting hate and advocating for many of our most marginalized communities.

Speakers:

  • Amandeep (Aman) Singh Sidhu is a partner at Winston & Strawn LLP, where he focuses on regulatory and compliance counseling, government investigations, and civil litigation in the health care
  • Manjusha (Manju) P. Kulkarni, Esq. (Manju) is the Executive Director of AAPI Equity Alliance and Co-Founder of Stop AAPI Hate.
  • Ann P. Kalayil, Ph.D., is the Associate Vice President at Columbia College Chicago. ​ Appointed by President Obama in 2011
  • Anirvan Chatterjee is a South Asian American activist and community-based historian from the SF Bay Area. He co-curates the Berkeley South Asian Radical History Walking Tour.
