Beyond the Textbook: Teaching Asian American Histories K-12

This in-person workshop at The College of New Jersey invites educators to discover practical strategies for teaching Asian American histories across grade levels. The session opens with South Asian American histories and archival resources from the South Asian American Digital Archive (SAADA), then branches into grade-specific breakouts: K-5 educators will explore integrating Asian American literature into their classrooms, while 6-12 educators will explore teaching with graphic novels. Participants will leave with books, ready-to-use resources and adaptable strategies to help students see their stories reflected in the curriculum.
Free parking. Lunch will be provided. Professional Development Hours awarded.
