Join the Asian American Education Projector for our workshop series, APIDA Hip Hop Scholars Webinars.

In this webinar, we will be joined by rapper/activist jason chu. jason chu will talk about his lived experiences as a Chinese American man in a Black and Latinx-rooted artistic culture. The presentation draws from his roles in the Beijing underground rap scene, national Asian American discourse, and 12+ years as a touring & recording artist. As an active social change and racial justice voice, jason has a unique perspective on the place of hip hop culture and rap music in Asian American interracial dialogue, social change, and global popular culture.
jason chu is a prominent voice in the national Asian American scene. jason tours regularly, matching high energy performances with hard-hitting lyricism. His music has been heard on film and TV, including Joy Ride, American Born Chinese, Warrior, Mayans MC, and more. As an activist educator, jason is a sought-after voice on Asian American history, racial justice, and mental health. He has keynoted and spoken at conferences and lecture series, worked with the L.A. Mayor’s Office, and been supported in his work by the Mellon Foundation.
