The Korean Cultural Center New York proudly presents Peafowl as part of its Korea on Screen series—a year-long screening series celebrating the depth and diversity of Korean cinema. Through feature films, documentaries, short films, and independent productions, the series aims to broaden access to and appreciation of Korean cinema in New York City.

Oh Jung-min’s House of the Seasons begins on a sweltering summer day as three generations of a family gather at their hometown in Daegu for an ancestral memorial rite. Seong-jin’s father has inherited and now runs the family tofu factory, with other family members helping with the business. What at first appears to be a harmonious family gathering gradually begins to unravel after the memorial rite, as differing perspectives and long-standing tensions come to the surface. In the midst of the growing conflict, Seong-jin makes a startling declaration: he has no intention of taking over the family business. Following the lives of this three-generation family with a calm and restrained gaze, Oh Jung-min reflects on what disappears and what is passed on to the next generation.

House of the Seasons premiered at the 28th Busan International Film Festival, where it won three awards: the KBS Independent Film Award, the Aurora Media Award, and the CGK Award. The film was recognized for its nuanced portrayal of multigenerational family life, Korean tradition, and generational conflict.
