SUMMARY:Echoes of Two Homelands: Naoya Ogura Jazz Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:“Echoes of Two Homelands”\nSaturday\, November 7 | 7:00–8:30 PM The Reformed Church of Newtown\, Elmhurst\, Queens \nEarlier this year I shared the news about the Queens Arts Fund\, and I’m so happy to finally share the date of the concert! \nI grew up in Japan\, and in 2020 I moved to Queens to study at Queens College. Since then\, this neighborhood has slowly become my second home. \nFor this concert\, I wanted to bring both of those homes into the music: songs from Japan\, played with the sound of New York jazz that I have learned here\, and a new piece I’ve been writing for this night. Last year\, we played a free concert for the Elmhurst community\, and seeing so many neighbors and friends in the room meant a lot to me. \nI hope this year can be another warm evening like that. Please bring your family and friends! \nNaoya Ogura Jazz Orchestra:\nAndrew Gould\, Hina Oikawa (as)\nJeremy Powell (ts)\nAndrew Gutauskas (bs)\nJohn Lake\, Naoya Ogura (tp)\nMatthew McDonald\, Brandon Moodie (tb)\nHyuna Park (p)\nBen Feldman (b)\nJohn Sturino (ds)
