DESCRIPTION:Gather\, Heal\, and Build: A Summit for Muslim Women Rooted in Collective Freedom and Care\n\n\nEvery year\, Malikah hosts the National Muslim Women’s Summit\, one of the few nationwide gatherings dedicated to social justice rooted Muslim women. In 2026\, we gather under the theme Collective Freedom and Collective Care\, exploring how spiritual grounding\, emotional resilience\, storytelling\, and community accountability shape the lives of Muslim women. \nThis year’s summit will take place at the Islamic Center of New York City and features a full day of conversation\, creativity\, and connection. \nThrough Qur’an recitation\, poetry\, comedy\, music\, fireside chats\, and a dynamic panel discussion\, we will explore how Muslim women build freedom through shared responsibility and collective care. Featuring workshops in healing justice\, self defense\, and creative expression\, the summit offers both reflection and practical tools for personal and collective growth. \nWhat to Expect: \n✨ Qur’an recitation and community du’a\n✨ Workshop on healing justice\, self defense\, creative expression\n✨ Workshop on spiritual care\, economic power\, and advocacy\n✨ Opening and closing poetry performances\n✨ A live comedy set as collective release\n✨ Musical performance rooted in memory and spiritual grounding\n✨ Three intimate fireside chats\n✨ A multi speaker panel on faith\, resistance\, and collective freedom\n✨ Networking\, marketplace space\, community dinner\, and sponsored goodies\n✨ Prayer accommodations throughout the day \nThe National Muslim Women’s Summit 2026 is an invitation to gather\, reflect\, and build together in a space created by and for Muslim women. We facilitate\, train\, and organize women and girls across all five boroughs in New York City through partnerships with CBOs\, public schools\, and religious institutions. Through our trainer model\, we equip women and girls in our communities with our four programmatic pillars: 1) healing 2) self-defense 3) organizing\, and 4) financial literacy. \n

She completed her predoctoral clinical work at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx and her postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University. Dr. Gulamhussein currently works as Assistant Professor at SUNY Old Westbury conducting research and teaching psychology coursework. She also serves as Licensed Psychologist at NYU Islamic Center\, providing therapy and outreach for Muslim students. \nAbout Pillars of Peace: Pillars of Peace aims to create a trauma-informed organization that is based on an empowerment model of services which focus on cultivating an atmosphere of support and encouragement. Our mission and goals are rooted in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights and we will continue to advocate for these basic rights on behalf of survivors of gender-based violence. \n
