DESCRIPTION:Join us for vibrant Eid street fest with food\, fashion\, music\, and community\, right in the heart of Astoria!\n\n\nFrom the organization that brought you the NYC Ramadan Night Market\, MALIKAH invites you to the NYC Eid Festival! On May 30th from 1 PM – 6 PM on 28th Ave to 25th Ave Steinway Street\, enjoy halal street food\, modest fashion\, Muslim-owned businesses\, live performances\, and more! \nWhether you’re grabbing your favorite halal bites\, shopping from local vendors\, or enjoying the vibrant atmosphere with friends and family\, there’s something for everyone. We can’t wait to celebrate with you in community! \nThis is a public\, open-to-all community event. Tickets on Eventbrite are donation-based and support Malikah’s mutual aid efforts and safety programming for women and girls in NYC. Donations also help us cover event costs and continue providing critical resources to our community. Everyone is welcome to attend. \nEach donation includes an automatic raffle entry! Want to increase your chances? Use the “Additional Raffle Entry” option to submit another donation and get entered again for a greater chance to win a specially curated Malikah Gift Basket\, featuring exclusive Malikah merch like a long sleeve shirt\, a stylish baseball hat\, a premium Vela hijab\, essential safety gear\, and other handpicked goodies! Raffle winners will be annouced during the event. \n \nMalikah is a grassroots anti-violence and wellness organization advocating against gender and hate-based violence through self-defense training\, healing justice\, economic empowerment\, and community organizing for safety and power. We facilitate\, train\, and organize women and girls across all five boroughs in New York City through partnerships with CBOs\, public schools\, and religious institutions. Through our trainer model\, we equip women and girls in our communities with our four programmatic pillars: 1) healing 2) self-defense 3) organizing\, and 4) financial literacy.
