SUMMARY:A LNY Collage Workshop: Shedding Skin in Snake Year
DESCRIPTION:Join multidisciplinary artist Chris Deng @heycdeng at Georgie’s Cafe @georgies_les in a guided collage workshop where we’ll collage our own Lunar New Year hanging decor pieces\, traditionally meant to invite in prosperity/good luck for the year ahead. We’ll kick off with a brief craft lecture where we’ll explore methods of selecting images and meditate on themes of change/ transformation as we collage. Then\, we’ll spend an hour constructing our unique\, collage hanging pieces and close with a casual gallery walk. \nCollage Materials Include… Lunar New Year ephemera like red knot tassels\, spring couplets/banners\, 福 fu character signs\, snake stickers\, etc. (items sourced from Chinatown!) A curated selection of magazines like Vogue China\, Vogue\, National Geographic\, Architectural Digest\, Bon Appétit\, Out\, Condé Nast Traveler\, Birds & Bloom\, and more You’re also welcome to bring any materials you’d like to work with!
