SUMMARY:Coffee & Canvass
DESCRIPTION:Walk the neighborhood with us and help build a real-time database of Chinatown’s storefronts! \nVolunteers who register will receive a code for free co-working (9am–5pm) at the Hub for the day of the event. \nWhy canvass storefronts? \nChinatown has been on the defensive for decades. Critical support often only arrives after it’s too late: After a legacy business closes\, after a block loses its character\, after displacement is irreversible. To change that\, we need to understand what’s happening in real time. \nThrough storefront canvassing\, we can: \n\nTrack closures and openings\, and see what businesses immediately need WtC support\nSpot trends in business types\, and identify commercial corridor shifts – what’s growing\, what’s disappearing\nAdvocate with real evidence\, and give policymakers and media the data they need to support Chinatown’s future\nPreserve culture and legacy by building a historical record of Chinatown’s commercial corridor\n\nThis is a monthly event that will take place every 4th Thursday of the month
