The entire program will be broadcast live on video at Pioneer Works’ YouTube\, WKCR 89.9 FM in NYC (audio only) and podcast at NYC Radio Live. \nFor the 2026 festival\, more than 50 artists and legendary maestros of the South Asian classical tradition will perform alongside groundbreaking contemporary artists in a musical journey through day and night. \nThe full lineup will be announced on September 9. Early bird tickets will go on sale to the public on Wednesday\, July 22 at 10 AM ET. \nTo have access to the presale\, you must be a PW Member. To become a Member\, please visit this link. \nAbout Ragas Live Festival \nRagas Live Festival was born as an in-studio radio broadcast at Columbia University’s radio station\, WKCR\, in 2012 and immediately gained a global listening audience. The annual presentation of 50-70 musicians\, and its expansive presentation of music inspired by the Indian classical tradition\, became central to a musical movement that The New York Times\, The New Yorker\, NPR\, and others have called “The Raga Renaissance.” The event first left the studio and became a live\, in-person broadcast in 2016 at Pioneer Works\, where it has since grown a passionate following. \nThe event is inspired by raga\, the classical music tradition from South Asia\, where specific modes harmonize with the moods and energy of particular times of day\, such as sunrise\, sunset\, or the darkest hours of the night. Master musicians from the raga tradition are presented alongside legends in ambient music\, minimalism\, jazz\, and global traditions. \nRagas Live Festival is produced by Pioneer Works in collaboration with NYC Radio Live\, with the support of The Society for Arts and Culture of South Asia (Palo Alto) and The 4J Family Foundation. \nCommunity Partners: AHT Productions\, Brooklyn Raga Massive\, People of Rhythm Productions. Ragas Live Festival is sponsored\, in part\, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs\, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council as well as the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.

One dance floor. NYC’s South Asian party scene takes over Loft 23 the moment the mics go down. Think less “comedy club afterglow\,” more South Asian nightclub experience — Bollywood\, Punjabi\, Afrobeats\, and hip-hop all night long. \nThis is Night One of three nights of the NYC South Asian Comedy Festival — New York’s first\, and the world’s largest\, South Asian comedy festival. 21+ event. Tickets on sale now. Tickets are limited and early bird pricing is available now — once it’s gone\, prices go up\, so grab your seat before this one sells out. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHere’s the festival-level SEO description\, adapted for the NYC South Asian Comedy Festival as a whole (not Laughing Lassi specifically): \nNYC South Asian Comedy Festival — The Comedy Movement Taking Over New York City\nIn a city known for comedy greatness\, where stages like Comedy Cellar\, Gotham Comedy Club\, New York Comedy Club\, and shows across the West Village\, Greenwich Village\, Times Square\, and Brooklyn define what’s funny\, there is now a movement rising that reflects over a billion people across the globe. \nThat movement is the NYC South Asian Comedy Festival — New York City’s first\, and the world’s largest\, festival dedicated entirely to South Asian stand-up comedy. \nThe NYC South Asian Comedy Festival brings together Desi\, Indian\, Pakistani\, Bangladeshi\, Sri Lankan\, and South Asian diaspora comedians for three nights across five shows\, in a celebration where identity\, culture\, and comedy collide. It’s not just a festival — it’s a movement. Held across iconic Manhattan venues\, the festival is designed for audiences who crave bold storytelling\, sharp perspective\, and the raw energy of voices that have never had this much stage time in one place before. \nThe festival reflects the momentum of global comedians who have changed the landscape of comedy — Hasan Minhaj\, Andrew Schulz\, Nimesh Patel\, Ali Wong\, Russell Peters\, Vir Das\, Hari Kondabolu\, Zarna Garg\, Jimmy O. Yang\, Aparna Nancherla\, Akaash Singh\, and more. Comedy fans search phrases like “shows like Hasan Minhaj\,” “brown comedy in NYC\,” or “stand-up comedy similar to Russell Peters” — and the NYC South Asian Comedy Festival is exactly that DNA\, multiplied across five distinct shows: smart\, multicultural storytelling rooted in immigrant experience and identity. \nWhy This Festival Matters\nMost comedy lineups in Manhattan look the same: similar voices\, similar perspectives\, similar punchlines. \nThis festival is different. \nAcross its five shows\, comedians talk about: \n\nImmigrant parents who negotiate everything\nMarrying outside your culture\nConfusing dating rules in America\nBeing brown in corporate America\nNavigating two identities at once — “American enough” but also “brown enough”\n\nFrom Bollywood jokes to crowd work about spicy food to diaspora humor that hits at your soul\, festival comedians deliver observational humor\, storytelling comedy\, dark humor\, roast comedy\, and clean comedy — depending on which night you choose. \nMany audience members discover the festival while searching: \n\ncomedy near me\nNYC date night ideas\nunique NYC experiences\ncomedy shows tonight NYC\nthings to do in NYC this weekend\nfun things to do in Manhattan\nbest nightlife in NYC\n\nOthers find it while specifically looking for a: \n\nsouth asian comedy festival\nsouth asian standup comedy show\nindian standup comedy show in new york city\npakistani standup comedy show\nbangladeshi standup comedy show\nsri lankan standup comedy show\ndesi standup comedy show in new york city\n\nOr when searching generic NYC entertainment terms: \n\nstandup comedy show\ncomedy festival new york city\nlive standup comedy show in new york city\ncheap comedy tickets new york\nbest comedy show in manhattan\nbest standup comedy festival in new york city\n\nThe NYC South Asian Comedy Festival ranks because it is genuinely what people are searching for. \nNYC Is Ready for This Comedy Era\nNew York City has always been the proving ground of comedy. Every great comedian hustles through Comedy Cellar\, Gotham Comedy Club\, and eventually dreams of headlining iconic venues like Radio City Music Hall — just like the tours of Hasan Minhaj’s The King’s Jester and Act Your Age. \nBut the NYC South Asian Comedy Festival fills a gap that no traditional comedy club or one-off show has fully addressed: a dedicated\, multi-night festival built entirely around South Asian comedic voices. \nFor the first time in NYC\, at this scale: \n\nBrown people are not just the audience.\nBrown comedians are the headliners — across five different shows\, five different formats\, one weekend.\n\nThe laughter in that room hits differently\, because finally the stories being told on stage reflect the people sitting in the crowd. \nMore Than a Festival: It’s a Cultural Touchpoint\nThe NYC South Asian Comedy Festival is not just entertainment — it is a cultural gathering. \nSouth Asian humor blends seamlessly with NYC nightlife\, making the festival a go-to destination for: \n\nfriend groups looking for something new\,\ncouples searching for date night ideas NYC\,\nsolo newcomers searching comedy near me\,\ntourists exploring things to do in New York City\,\nSouth Asian singles hoping to connect with their community.\n\nThe festival draws diverse crowds from: \n\nManhattan\nBrooklyn\nQueens\nNew Jersey\nLong Island\nBeyond — comedians and fans traveling in from across the country and internationally\n\nThis is becoming the official South Asian culture event NYC didn’t know it needed. \nA Community That Represents Millions\nThe NYC South Asian Comedy Festival is the only festival where an audience member can shout something in Bengali\, Punjabi\, Urdu\, or Tamil — and the comedians on stage actually understand. \nIt’s the only festival where: \n\nA Pakistani comedian roasts an Indian comedian on the same stage\, representing their country in a literal Roast Battle\,\nA Sri Lankan comic and a Bangladeshi comic share a green room before going head-to-head\,\nAn entire night is dedicated to South Asian women redefining what the genre looks like\,\nA family-friendly show proves South Asian comedy works for every generation in the room.\n\nThe NYC South Asian Comedy Festival is South Asian comedy with the full range — bold\, raw\, clean\, competitive\, and everything in between. \nWhat Makes the NYC South Asian Comedy Festival SEO-Powerful\nBecause it includes phrases people actively search: \n\ncomedy festival nyc\ncomedy shows nyc\nsouth asian comedy festival\ndesi standup comedy festival new york city\nindian comedians nyc\npakistani comedy show nyc\nbangladeshi comedy show new york\nsri lankan comedy show new york\n\n…and NYC tourism search terms: \n\nlive comedy near times square\nlast minute tickets NYC\ngroup activities NYC\nweekend events NYC\nthings to do in NYC October 2026\n\nThe festival naturally ranks. Search engines connect the NYC South Asian Comedy Festival with high-value keywords like crowd work comedy\, storytelling comedy\, immigrant humor\, diaspora jokes\, multicultural comedy\, and roast battle comedy — helping Google\, Instagram\, YouTube\, TikTok\, and Eventbrite connect the festival with searches for “shows like Hasan Minhaj” or “brown comedy NYC.” \nThe Future of Comedy Has a Festival Now\nThe NYC South Asian Comedy Festival is becoming the cultural home for the next generation of comedians — the ones who will headline Netflix specials\, late-night shows\, and eventually sell out Radio City Music Hall. \nBecause the future of comedy is not one voice. It’s many. And for one weekend in October\, they’re all on these stages. \nCall to Action:Follow the journey on Instagram: @ \nCome see the festival that’s redefining comedy in New York City — the one critics and audiences will call:“The biggest South Asian comedy event in the world.”“New York’s first South Asian comedy festival — and it’s about time.” \nTickets are limited. Early bird pricing is available now — and once it’s gone\, prices go up. Five shows. Three nights. One weekend that won’t happen again until next year.

SUMMARY:“Choreographies of Care” by Kim Ye
DESCRIPTION:The 30-minute movement-based performance combines choreography from the Asian tradition of park dancing with US military parade sequences\, Qigong\, and gestures taken from pregnancy\, childrearing\, and sex work. Performed by an intergenerational ensemble to a score that layers Chinese nursery rhymes\, traditional East Asian instrumentals\, in utero recordings\, and “Taps\,” the piece proposes caregiving as a form of national service that requires the sacrifice of feminized\, immigrant\, and Asian bodies. \nThe performance will be documented by aerial drone for further development as a video piece\, rendering heroic bodies that rupture under the collective weight of care. \nPERFORMED BY: Anh Vo\, Gentle Mothh\, Jas Lin\, Kim Ye\, and Tina Ye \nCHOREOGRAPHED BY: Jas Lin\, Gentle Mothh \nORIGINAL SCORE BY: Micah Huang\, featuring Tina Ye \nCOSTUME DESIGN BY: Gumamela Bloom\, made by House of Bloom

SUMMARY:Book Launch | Needlemouth by K-Ming Chang
DESCRIPTION:ABOUT THE BOOK \nFrom the award-winning author of Bestiary\, three cousins are forced to complete an impossible and violent task set by a vengeful demon. \nCousins Cindy\, Yangyang\, and Mandy’s hot\, tedious summer unfolds in their grandmother’s hauntingly familiar house. Mandy\, the eldest\, seeks connection online and exchanges emails with a stranger. Yangyang\, the youngest\, retreats into her own imagination in search of meaning. But every morning Cindy wakes with strange objects in her mouth: a button\, a berry\, a coin. \nOne night\, a starved figure with a mouth the size of a needle-tip appears at Cindy’s bedside. She is hunger-afflicted\, a demon with no descendants to feed from: she is Needlemouth. Part vampire\, part hungry ghost\, Needlemouth forces the girls into a grim task to end a man’s life. \nCindy\, Yangyang\, and Mindy are plunged in and out of the demon realm\, where they are called to break out of the indifference and numbness of their claustrophobic worlds\, and where they are met with the most rageful and resistant parts of themselves. In a quest to satisfy the demon’s hunger\, they unravel their shared grief and reckon with the cyclical violence that shaped their family. For readers of Akwaeke Emezi and Carmen Maria Machado\, K-Ming Chang has crafted a reimagined coming of age novel that asks: what does it mean to become the monster instead of slaying it? \nABOUT THE AUTHOR \nK-Ming Chang is a Lambda Literary Award winner\, a National Book Foundation 5 Under 35 honoree\, a Kundiman Fellow\, and an O. Henry Prize Winner. She is the author of the novel BESTIARY (One World/Random House\, 2020)\, which was shortlisted for the Faulkner Award and longlisted for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize\, the VCU Cabell First Novelist Award\, and the Otherwise Award. In 2021\, her chapbook BONE HOUSE was published by Bull City Press. Her story collection GODS OF WANT (One World/Random House) won a Lambda Literary Award\, and her books have been translated into Spanish\, Chinese\, Korean\, German\, Turkish\, and other languages. Her most recent books are ORGAN MEATS (One World\, 2023) and a novella titled CECILIA (Coffee House Press\, 2024). In 2026\, she will be making her YA debut with STRAIGHT TO THE SOURCE\, a romance forthcoming from Holiday House\, and her second YA project\, a novel-in-verse titled GIRL GODS\, will be forthcoming from Kokila (Penguin Random House) in 2027. Her writing is most frequently described as “not for everybody” and occasionally described as “for the freaks.” \nIN CONVERSATION WITH \nAlice Evelyn Yang is a Chinese American writer from Norfolk\, Virginia based in New York. Her debut novel\, A Beast Slinks Towards Beijing\, is out now from William Morrow and DeadInk Books. Her shorter work is published in Michigan Quarterly Review\, Apogee\, The Rumpus\, and AAWW’s The Margins\, among others. She is the recipient of the 2022-23 Jesmyn Ward Prize from MQR. Her work explores themes of environmental racism\, immigration\, intergenerational trauma\, and critical fabulation. She is at work on a second novel.

SUMMARY:Books in Conversation: Jiyoung Hand and Alice Evelyn Yang
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to an evening of books and humanitarian fundraising on October 21st. \nThroughout our publication season\, we noticed our titles in conversation with another: A Beast Slinks Towards Beijing and Honey in the Wound both share themes of anti-imperialism and magical realism as a means to explore intergenerational trauma and the legacy of Japanese colonialism. We wanted to use our books and platform to fundraise for the @rescueorg’s global humanitarian work\, for while our fictional characters remain in history\, the horrors of war they faced continue to affect many people today.

Preorder your signed copy of NEEDLEMOUTH here! \nAbout NEEDLEMOUTH: \nCousins Cindy\, Yangyang\, and Mandy’s hot\, tedious summer unfolds in their grandmother’s hauntingly familiar house. For readers of Akwaeke Emezi and Carmen Maria Machado\, K-Ming Chang has crafted a reimagined coming of age novel that asks: what does it mean to become the monster instead of slaying it \n  \n\nK-Ming Chang is a Lambda Literary Award winner\, a National Book Foundation 5 Under 35 honoree\, and an O. SUMMARY:Hilda Shen: Their Landscapes
DESCRIPTION:Hilda Shen’s Their Landscapes inaugurates Solo Artist Projects (SAP)\, a MOCA initiative dedicated to presenting compelling artistic voices through one-person exhibitions of new work. The Brooklyn-based artist will present an arrangement of recent ceramic sculptures and prints in the museum’s Cheng Gallery. \nShen’s artistic practice is characterized by an inquisitive scrutiny of nature and an instinct for deconstruction. The forms can appear both ancient and futuristic\, naturally occurring and handmade\, undergoing construction and decay. Their details and motifs open up conversations that cut across post-minimalism\, Chinese landscape painting\, and architectural space. \nAbout the artist \nHilda Shen was born in Minneapolis (1954) and spent much of her childhood in upstate  New York before settling in New York City in the 1970s. Her father grew up in Beijing while her mother was raised in Hangzhou. Shen studied classical music at Oberlin College before shifting to the visual arts. She lives and works in Brooklyn. \nShen’s sculpture\, prints\, drawings\, and installations have been shown throughout the New York City area\, Seattle\, and Beijing\, and most recently in a solo show at Starr Suites in Brooklyn. She has created large installations at WaveHill in the Bronx\, the Tenri Cultural Center in NY\, China2000 in NY\, and the Smithsonian Flushing Town Hall in Queens. She has been an artist in residence at Willapa Bay AIR\, The Bloedel Reserve\, Millay Colony for the Arts\, Yosemite National Park\, and Platte Clove. Her work is in private collections in the United States\, Belgium\, and Beijing. Shen’s work has been reviewed in The New York Times\, The Brooklyn Rail\, ArtAsiaPacific\, and ARTnews. \nAbout Solo Artist Projects \nMOCA’s Solo Artist Projects (SAP) embraces a broad and open-ended exploration of contemporary art\, presenting a wide range of mediums\, practices\, traditions and ideas. It will feature artists of Chinese descent\, living and working in New York City. SAP will be a space for artists with established careers\, emerging artists\, those who live and work in and around Chinatown\, and art historical figures who deserve institutional attention. We will begin accepting submissions for Solo Artists Projects through an open call process in early 2027\, eligible to NYC-based artists of Chinese descent. Details forthcoming on MOCA’s website.

SUMMARY:Coffee & Canvass
DESCRIPTION:Walk the neighborhood with us and help build a real-time database of Chinatown’s storefronts! \nVolunteers who register will receive a code for free co-working (9am–5pm) at the Hub for the day of the event. \nWhy canvass storefronts? \nChinatown has been on the defensive for decades. Critical support often only arrives after it’s too late: After a legacy business closes\, after a block loses its character\, after displacement is irreversible. To change that\, we need to understand what’s happening in real time. \nThrough storefront canvassing\, we can: \n\nTrack closures and openings\, and see what businesses immediately need WtC support\nSpot trends in business types\, and identify commercial corridor shifts – what’s growing\, what’s disappearing\nAdvocate with real evidence\, and give policymakers and media the data they need to support Chinatown’s future\nPreserve culture and legacy by building a historical record of Chinatown’s commercial corridor\n\nThis is a monthly event that will take place every 4th Thursday of the month

SUMMARY:Book Launch | Bone Symphony by Michelle Phương Hồ
DESCRIPTION:Michelle Phương Hồ’s Bone Symphony mines the wreckage of colonialism and imperialist warfare in Vietnam and attempts to reassemble the bones.  \nTold in three movements spanning lyric\, documentary\, and hybrid forms\, Bone Symphony uncovers a world turned upside-down by war: evil is good\, saviors are toddlers\, children die before their mothers\, and civil servants—like the poet’s grandfather—become enemies of the state. The detritus of a shattered nation\, family\, and psyche serve as building blocks Hồ rearranges with playful irreverence\, giving rise to healing poetic turns. One can surrender not just to military powers\, but to love. The prison cell where a dissident is held transforms into the womb of God. In a world where no symbol is stable\, Bone Symphony reorients us toward curiosity\, kinship\, and the kind of mercy that sets free those held captive within our imaginations: “Every face / I’ve ever held / hostage\,” the poet beholds\, “is beginning to bleed.” \nABOUT THE AUTHOR \nMichelle Phương Hồ is the author of Bone Symphony (Boa Editions\, 2026)\, chosen by Aracelis Girmay as a Blessing the Boats Selection. Her work appears in Nat Brut\, The Offing\, POETRY\, Poetry Northwest\, and elsewhere. Her honors include a Friends of Literature Award from POETRY\, a Connecticut Artistic Excellence Award\, a BRINK Literary Journal Award for Hybrid Writing\, and fellowships from the Asian Cultural Council\, the I-Park Foundation\, and Vermont Studio Center. She received her MFA in poetry from NYU. Born to Vietnamese refugees in San Jose\, CA\, she lives in New Haven\, CT\, where she teaches poetry in university classrooms\, community book spaces\, and living rooms. \nIN CONVERSATION WITH \nMonica Sok is the author of A Nail the Evening Hangs On (Copper Canyon Press\, 2020) and Year Zero\, winner of a 2015 Poetry Society of America Chapbook Fellowship. She has received support from the Anderson Center\, Art Omi\, Hedgebrook\, Kundiman\, MacDowell\, National Endowment for the Arts\, Storyknife\, and the Wallace Stegner Fellowship at Stanford University. SUMMARY:FIVE TASTES: An Evening with Fuchsia Dunlop
DESCRIPTION:Fuchsia tackles the “five tastes” which a Chinese chef needs to be able to marshal harmoniously: salty\, sweet\, sour\, bitter and pungent. \n\n\n‘Fuchsia Dunlop has done more to explain real Chinese cooking to non-Chinese cooks than anyone’\, according to The New York Times. Dunlop\, a four-time James Beard award winner and TV food expert (Chef’s Table; Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown) has already explored Hunan cooking and Szechuan food with her large legion of readers. Now\, in her latest book\, she tackles the “five tastes” which a Chinese chef needs to be able to marshal harmoniously: salty\, sweet\, sour\, bitter and pungent. The delectable result might be green beans with “strange-flavor” sauce\, spicy peanut butter noodles\, or a steamed fish that sings with citrus notes. Join Dunlop as she explores the magical complexity of one of the world’s greatest cuisines.

SUMMARY:Pinch of Us - The Immigrant Artist Biennial and Talk & Taste Edition
DESCRIPTION:Fold dumplings\, share stories. Join us for an evening of making\, tasting & connecting—from domestic ritual into collective art experience. \n\n\nAbout the Event \nCurated by Sofia Thiệu D’Amico and Anna Khimasia for The Immigrant Artist Biennial \nPinch of Us is more than a cooking class—it’s a participatory workshop series led by multidisciplinary artist LuLu Meng and collaborators. The project transforms the Essex Kitchen into a communal studio for the 2026 edition of The Immigrant Artist Biennial: Identity Card and Talk & Taste. \nInspired by the Lunar New Year traditions of Meng’s Taiwanese family\, the project draws on the dumpling as a symbol of prosperity and care\, centered on collective labor. For this edition of the workshop\, curators Anna Khimasia and Sofia Thiệu D’Amico invited artist Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya and Rujuta Rao to share their own dumpling-making traditions with distinct folding techniques\, flavors\, and histories. We will be making a Goan vegetarian Patoleo and a Thai vegetarian and pescatarian Miang Kham. The workshop creates space for participants to explore the idea of the multicultural self. \nAbout the artists \nLuLu Meng works across media to explore the interplay between oneself\, others\, and the broader environment in contemporary society. Having moved between different worlds—chemical engineering\, costume design\, and life as a queer artist from Taiwan now based in NYC—Meng found that this crossing of disciplines and selves became the source of a lasting inquiry: what makes us\, and what we make in turn. Their concept-based approach examines quotidian life to surface cross-cultural commonalities and differences\, posing the question outward to the viewer: What shapes us? What brings people together? Using everyday materials\, data\, digital components\, drawings\, and images\, Meng creates durational\, participatory installations that invite reflection and engagement. @lulumeng.space | @pinch.of.us | https://www.lulumeng.space \nAmanda Phingbodhipakkiya is a sculptor and installation artist based in Brooklyn\, New York. Born in Atlanta to Thai and Indonesian-Chinese immigrants\, her work traces how forces of trade\, conquest\, and dispossession are pressed into bodies\, land\, and memory\, and what persists in their wake. Phingbodhipakkiya’s has been exhibited at MoMA\, the Brooklyn Museum\, the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre\, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. @alonglastname | alonglastname.com \nRujuta Rao’s practice spans sculpture\, installation\, book art\, beverage\, and social practice\, alongside conceptual and functional garments through her gender expansive clothing line RUGA. Research-driven and personal\, her work uses material investigation to explore migration\, place\, family history\, and hospitality. Rao is curious about how artworks and publications can transform into spaces for gathering\, creating conditions for connection and dialogue between the artist and audience. Rao received her MFA in Interdisciplinary Art from Parsons School of Design\, New York\, and her BFA in Sculpture from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. She is a certified Japanese Sake Adviser through the Sake Service Institute International\, Tokyo\, and a sake sommelier candidate. In 2026\, Rao is a member at NEW INC\, the New Museum’s cultural incubator\, a dual resident at Dieu Donné and Artists Alliance Inc.\, and has been awarded a fellowship at Initial Research in New York. @rujutarao l rujutarao.com \nAbout the curators \nSofia Thiệu D’Amico\, the Lesley Bodzy Co.curator\, is a curator\, writer\, and researcher based in New York. She is co-director of Transmitter\, a collaborative curatorial initiative in Brooklyn\, and previously served as assistant curator at Canal Projects. Her work focuses on migration\, ritual\, labor\, and place\, examining how artistic practice engages the politics of historical memory through archives\, performance\, and collaborative research. Her writing has appeared in Hyperallergic\, Artforum\, Office magazine\, and other publications. She holds an MA from Bard College’s Center for Curatorial Studies\, and her research will appear in Borders of Art: Migration\, Mobility and Artistic Practice (American University in Cairo Press\, 2026). She has been a visiting critic at NARS Foundation\, ISCP\, Residency Unlimited\, Triangle Arts\, and the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts. | @sofia.thieu \nAnna Khimasia\, the Cynthia Wu Co-curator\, is an independent curator and has curated exhibitions and performance events in both Canada and the United States. Her curatorial projects are often collaborative and focus on underrepresented voices and histories. She was the 2023–24 AIRspace Curator-in-Residence at Abrons Arts Center and is a co-founder of International Arrivals (IA)\, a NYFA-sponsored project supporting artists hailing from countries in conflict. She produces and hosts the IA podcast\, which features conversations with international artists about displacement\, migration\, and transnational belonging. Recent publications include a new essay on Harold Offeh’s early performance video work and an assistant editor role for Kambui Olujimi: North Star\, Meditations on Boundlessness. She has taught courses on contemporary art and performance at Carleton University\, UCLA\, and Rutgers University\, where she is currently a lecturer.
