It is not just a show — it is a movement. A monthly showcase in the heart of Midtown Manhattan\, steps away from Times Square\, designed for audiences who crave bold storytelling\, sharp perspective\, and the raw energy of international voices. \nThe show reflects the momentum of global comedians who have changed the landscape of comedy — Hasan Minhaj\, Andrew Schulz\, Nimesh Patel\, Ali Wong\, Russell Peters\, Vir Das\, Hari Kondabolu\, Zarna Garg\, Jimmy O. Yang\, Aparna Nancherla\, Aakash Singh\, and more. Comedy fans search phrases like “shows like Hasan Minhaj\,” “brown comedy in NYC\,” or “stand-up comedy similar to Russell Peters\,” and Laughing Lassi appears because the DNA of the show is exactly that — smart\, multicultural storytelling rooted in immigrant experience and identity. \nWhy Laughing Lassi Matters\nMost comedy lineups in Manhattan look the same: similar voices\, similar perspectives\, similar punchlines. \nLaughing Lassi is different. \nAt Laughing Lassi\, comedians talk about: \n\nImmigrant parents who negotiate everything\nMarrying outside your culture\nConfusing dating rules in America\nBeing brown in corporate America\nNavigating two identities at once — “American enough” but also “brown enough”\n\nFrom Bollywood jokes to crowd work about spicy food to diaspora humor that hits at your soul\, these comedians deliver observational humor\, storytelling comedy\, dark humor\, and clean comedy depending on the night. \nMany audience members discover Laughing Lassi while searching: \n\ncomedy near me\nNYC date night ideas\nunique NYC experiences\ncomedy shows tonight NYC\nthings to do in NYC this weekend\nfun things to do in Manhattan\nbest nightlife in NYC\n\nOthers find it while specifically looking for a: \n\nsouth asian standup comedy show\nindian standup comedy show in new york city\npakistani standup comedy show\nbangladeshi standup comedy show\ndesi standup comedy show in new york city\nsouth asian standup comedy show in new jersey\n\nOr when searching generic NYC entertainment terms: \n\nstandup comedy show\ncomedy show\nstandup comedy show new york city\nlive standup comedy show in new york city\ncheap comedy tickets new york\nbest comedy show in manhattan\nbest standup comedy show in new york city\n\nLaughing Lassi ranks because it is genuinely what people are searching for. \nNYC Is Ready for This Comedy Era\nNew York City has always been the proving ground of comedy. Every great comedian hustles through Comedy Cellar\, Comedy Cellar NYC\, Comedy Cellar New York\, Gotham Comedy Club\, and eventually dreams of performing at iconic venues like Radio City Music Hall\, just like the tours of Hasan Minhaj’s The King’s Jester and Act Your Age. \nBut Laughing Lassi fills a gap that no traditional comedy club was addressing. \nFor the first time in NYC: \n\nBrown people are not just the audience.\nBrown comedians are the headliners.\n\nThe laughter in that room hits differently\, because finally the stories being told onstage reflect the people sitting in the crowd. \nMore Than a Show: It’s a Cultural Touchpoint\nLaughing Lassi is not just entertainment — it is a cultural gathering. \nAudience members describe it as: \n\n“brown community therapy”\n“brown TED Talk\, but funnier”\n“Bollywood meets Andrew Schulz crowd work”\n“Hasan Minhaj energy with Russell Peters nostalgia”\n\nSouth Asian humor blends seamlessly with NYC nightlife\, making the show a go-to destination for: \n\nfriend groups looking for something new\,\ncouples searching for date night ideas NYC\,\nsolo newcomers searching comedy near me\,\ntourists exploring things to do in New York City\,\nbrown singles hoping to meet other South Asians.\n\nLaughing Lassi regularly draws diverse crowds from: \n\nManhattan\nWest Village\nBrooklyn\nQueens\nNew Jersey\nLong Island\n\nThis show is becoming the official South Asian culture event NYC didn’t know it needed. \nA Community That Represents Millions\nLaughing Lassi is the only show where an audience member can shout: \n\n“Say something in Bengali!” \n\n…and three comics on the lineup actually can. \nIt is the only show where: \n\nA Pakistani comedian roasts a Bangladeshi guy sitting in the front row\,\nAn Indian comic compares aunties to CIA interrogators\,\nA Filipino American jokes about being mistaken for South Asian\,\nA Korean American explains why brown parents and Korean parents are the same — just different spices.\n\nLaughing Lassi is a multicultural comedy night with global flavor. \nWhat Makes Laughing Lassi SEO-Powerful\nBecause it includes phrases people actively search: \n\ncomedy cellar nyc\ncomedy shows nyc\ncomedy club nyc\ncomedy club new york\nnyc comedy club\nbest comedy show in west village\nsouth asian comedy nyc\ndesi standup comedy show new york city\nindian comedians nyc\npakistani comedy show nyc\nbangladeshi comedy show new york\n\n…and NYC tourism search terms: \n\nlive comedy near times square\nlast minute tickets NYC\ngroup activities NYC\nweekend events NYC\n\nLaughing Lassi naturally ranks. \nSearch engines see Laughing Lassi associated with high-value keywords like: \n\ncrowd work comedy\nstorytelling comedy\nimmigrant humor\ndiaspora jokes\nmulticultural comedy\n\nThis helps Google\, Instagram\, YouTube\, TikTok\, and Eventbrite connect Laughing Lassi with searches for “shows like Hasan Minhaj” or “brown comedy NYC.” \nLaughing Lassi is the Future of Comedy\nLaughing Lassi is becoming the cultural home for the next generation of comedians — the ones who will headline Netflix specials\, late-night shows\, and eventually sell out Radio City Music Hall. \nBecause the future of comedy is not one voice. \nIt’s many. \nAnd they’re all on this stage. \nCall to Action:\nFollow the journey on Instagram: @LaughingLassiCome see the show that everyone is talking about — the one critics and audiences call: \n\n“The best standup comedy show in Manhattan.” \n\n\n“The funniest Desi comedy show in New York City.” \n\n\n“If Hasan Minhaj and Russell Peters had a baby — it would be Laughing Lassi.” \n\nTickets sell out fast.Seats are limited. And every month is a completely new lineup.

SUMMARY:THE LUNAR FRONTIER: Cowboy Bebop x Eternal Wind
DESCRIPTION:Saddle up\, space cowboy – we’re riding into orbit with Eternal Wind Music. Inspired by the jazz-noir universe of the cult classic Cowboy Bebop\, The Red Pavilion becomes a drifting frontier – part smoky jazz saloon\, part space-age hideout. \nOwen Chen’s Eternal Wind Quintet traces the journey of jazz from New Orleans to Tokyo and back – performing Yoko Kanno’s Cowboy Bebop score alongside the hard bop and blues standards that inspired it\, from Dizzy Gillespie and Thelonious Monk to Art Blakey and Duke Ellington. \nEternal Wind is a cinematic jazz quintet led by guitarist Owen Chen\, exploring film and game music through the lens of modern jazz improvisation\, and atmospheric storytelling. Drawing from the language of bebop\, post-bop\, and contemporary jazz\, the group reshapes familiar themes into music that feels intimate\, restless\, nostalgic and alive. \nDescribed by BroadwayWorld as “tender\, aching\, dark\, and explosively alive\,” Eternal Wind features musicians from the jazz programs of New York University\, Juilliard School\, and Manhattan School of Music. The group is signed to the jazz label Origin Records with its debut album releasing March 2026. \nDoors 6:30pm / Show 7pm.Walk-ins welcome.\n2 Drink Minimum per person for table service. 21+ ID Required.

SUMMARY:Fandom-First: Reaching Gen Z Through Stories and Community on Webtoon

In this session\, we’ll unpack what makes WEBTOON a Gen Z cultural epicenter — where readers spend real time\, money\, and attention inside the stories they love — and how brands can show up natively in the spaces where this generation builds loyalty. You’ll leave with a clearer picture of Gen Z’s media habits\, what makes a fandom-led campaign work\, and how culture-defining platforms like WEBTOON help brands turn attention into real outcomes.

SUMMARY:Dance: Benjamin Akio Kimitch
DESCRIPTION:Part of the Pasculano Collaborative for Contemporary Dance \nAs part of our new Dance Encounters series\, choreographer Benjamin Akio Kimitch dreams beyond the mantra of East-meets-West. Inspired by his formative training in Chinese dance and intimate encounters with Peking opera\, Kimitch creates a dance work that honors his late mother\, a dancer. He has welcomed a group of creative collaborators into his cosmic\, sunrise-colored search for authentic personal expression\, using warrior elements of Peking opera as a transformative source of beauty and strength—restaged for an unforgettable outdoor experience. The work features music by Clarie M Singer and costumes by Carlos Soto; performed by Pareena Lim\, Julie McMillan Castellano\, and Lai Yi Ohlsen. \nWednesday\, July 29\, 2026 at 6:00 pm \n\n\nThursday\, July 30\, 2026 at 6:00 pm \n\n\n\n\nFriday\, July 31\, 2026 at 6:00 pm \nPhoto credit: Erin Baiano

SUMMARY:The Subconscious as Muse: A Workshop with Swati Sudarsan
DESCRIPTION:This workshop focuses on the generative potential of our subconscious creativities. Over a two-hour session\, we will first learn about the Jungian concepts of collective unconscious\, synchronicity\, and universal archetypes. We will use three different artist’s interpretations of tarot decks as prompts for a journaling exercise that will help us come up with characters\, and then a narrative for them. Then\, we will make word braids\, using strips of paper made of cut up interviews and poems by artists we admire. We will use these braids to create word banks\, and then draw on AAWW archival materials including poems\, testimonies\, and documents that trace the history of Asian American migration and belonging to inspire political poems that speak to immigration law\, resistance\, and the long fight for dignity and rights.

Since then\, Asianish has evolved into a growing network of artists\, curators\, writers\, and cultural workers who gather through exhibitions\, studio visits\, public programs\, meals\, and informal conversations that foster solidarity\, visibility\, and exchange. They acknowledge the multi-racial\, multi-ethnic identities shared and honor and respect different intersections. Asianish is interested in holding space for these hybridized identities that sometimes overlap and are also incredibly unique and specific to each individual. They recognize each other as invaluable resources for growth\, strength\, and wisdom. Through sharing practices\, experiences\, and ideas\, Asianish intends to deepen connections individually and collectively to strengthen and support community within and beyond Asianish. @asianish2018 \nAbout A4\nAsian American Arts Alliance (A4) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring greater representation\, equity\, and opportunities for Asian American artists and cultural organizations through resource sharing\, promotion\, and community building. Since 1983\, A4 has sought to unify\, promote\, and represent the artistic and cultural producers of one of New York City’s fastest-growing populations. We are a diverse alliance of artists\, organizations\, and arts supporters who believe that working together as a pan-ethnic\, multidisciplinary community is essential to nurturing the development of artists and arts groups. A4 serves as a thoughtful convener of the Asian American cultural workforce around issues of race\, identity\, and artmaking and provides a critical voice for this community. We are the only service organization in the country dedicated to the professional development of Asian American and Pacific Islander artists in all disciplines.

SUMMARY:Studio Ghibli VGM & Anime Jazz x Eternal Wind Music
DESCRIPTION:Owen Chen leads Eternal Wind\, a New York-based guitar-led jazz ensemble that reimagines beloved Studio Ghibli\, anime\, and film soundtracks through modern jazz improvisation. The musical arrangements include Ghibli favorites such as Spirited Away\, Princess Mononoke\, anime classics such as Your Name\, Cowboy Bebop\, and video games such as Kingdom Hearts\, Legend of Zelda\, and many more. \nDrawing from bebop\, post-bop\, and contemporary jazz — fusing influences from classical\, world music\, pop\, and R&B — Eternal Wind reshapes familiar themes into music that BroadwayWorld describes as “intimate\, restless\, nostalgic and alive\,” with “tender\, almost aching arrangements… nostalgia that made the room go quiet.” Paris-Move praises the ensemble’s “ability to build bridges between cultures while forging a sound entirely its own\,” calling the music “immediately accessible while remaining remarkably complex” with “a cinematic quality\, painting landscapes and characters through melody and offering listeners not just music but immersive worlds.” Their debut album The Ghibli Collection is out now on Origin Records. \nhttps://eternalwindmusic.com \nDoors 6:30pm / Show 7pm \nAll events are 21+\, and a valid physical ID is required for entry. 2-drink minimum per person.
