SUMMARY:Broadway: Maybe Happy Ending
DESCRIPTION:Emmy® and Golden Globe Award® winner Darren Criss (Little Shop of Horrors) returns to Broadway alongside Helen J Shen in the new romantic musical comedy MAYBE HAPPY ENDING.  A New York Times Critics’ Pick \nInside a one-room apartment on the outskirts of Seoul\, Oliver lives a happily quiet life\, listening to jazz records and caring for his favorite plant. But what else is there to do when you’re a Helperbot 3\, a robot that has long been retired and considered obsolete? When his fellow Helperbot neighbor Claire asks to borrow his charger\, what starts as an awkward encounter leads to a unique friendship\, a surprising adventure\, and maybe even…love? \nWinner of the Richard Rodgers Award\, MAYBE HAPPY ENDING is the offbeat and captivating story of two outcasts near the end of their warranty who discover that even robots can be swept off their feet. Helmed by visionary director and Tony Award® winner Michael Arden (Parade\, Once on This Island)\, with a dazzling scenic design by Dane Laffrey (A Christmas Carol) and book\, music\, and lyrics by the internationally acclaimed duo Will Aronson and Hue Park\, MAYBE HAPPY ENDING is a fresh\, original musical about the small things that make any life worth living.

SUMMARY:Exhibit: "The Monkey King in Chinatown" by AAPI Comic Book and Graphic Novel Artists
DESCRIPTION:The Monkey King is the epitome of tricksterdom. First appearing in the 14th-century Chinese novel\, “Journey to the West\,” the character born as Sun Wukong embodies rebellion\, individualism\, and daring. He’s also the inspiration behind the stunning works in this exhibition. \nCurator Jerry Ma’s modern Monkey King idea began with his first exhibition at Pearl River Mart\, A CHINATOWN ODYSSEY (which inspired his graphic novel). This solo show was his reimagining of the mythical creature and his legendary cohorts on adventures — and misadventures — throughout NYC’s Chinatown. \nThis new exhibition\, featuring the works of eight renowned AAPI comic book and graphic novel artists\, furthers those adventures. The pieces reimagine the simian folk hero as everything from a punk rocker to a dancing king to a ferocious b-baller. They place him in iconic Chinatown spots\, like Columbus Park with its Chinese chess enthusiasts\, the Canal Street subway station (complete with pizza rat)\, a lively dim sum eatery\, and the Transfiguration Church and beloved Hop Kee restaurant. \nThey connect the past with the present\, bringing a Chinese legend into a Chinese American community\, and beyond. They make him part of that community. Eating\, dancing\, playing\, and laughing alongside its members. \nThe exhibition also features the artists’ works from their careers as comic book and graphic novel artists\, and is accompanied by installations in Chelsea Market and the outdoor tables of the Meatpacking District. Both framed and unframed prints are available for purchase. \nThe featured artists: \n\nBernard Chang\nSean Chen\nCliff Chiang\nSoo Lee\nHoward Ma\nJerry Ma (curator)\nJerome Opeña\nKimberly Wang

DESCRIPTION:Experience the natural beauty of the Philippine archipelago through dance\, depicting the ebb and flow of oceans\, still lakes\, waterfalls\, and rivers. Kinding Sindaw immerses participants in the rich ecosystem of these waters\, using intricate footwork and body movements to embody traditions from the Meranao\, Maguindanao\, Tboli\, and Taosug peoples. \nThe dances share rituals and stories from the Derangen\, Lemlunay\, and Kissa epics\, reflecting cultural codes tied to the land and water. SUMMARY:MOCA x Committee of 100 x NY Phil Musicians Present: Home and Belonging
DESCRIPTION:This performance highlights music by composers and performers from across the AAPI diaspora.\n\n\nJoin the Musicians of the New York Philharmonic for a special afternoon of music in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. This concert is part of their ongoing commitment to fostering community\, inclusivity\, and representation in the performing arts while amplifying the missions of partner organizations. This event highlights the work of Committee of 100\, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the participation and representation of Chinese Americans in all areas of American life. \nCentered around the themes of home and belonging\, this concert brings powerful storytelling through music to communities beyond Lincoln Center — and invites audiences to connect through shared experiences and new perspectives. \nNearly one-third of the Philharmonic’s musicians are of Asian descent. This performance honors their cultural heritage and artistic voices\, highlighting music by composers and performers from across the AAPI diaspora. The works featured in the program were chosen for the personal significance they hold for the performers. The afternoon will also include a brief presentation from Committee of 100\, who will share more about their mission and impact. \nWe hope you’ll join us for this meaningful celebration — a tribute to identity\, heritage\, and the power of music to bring us home. \nMUSICIANSHannah Choi\, violinAlina Kobialka\, violinAnna Rabinova\, violinLeah Ferguson\, violaCong Wu\, violaClaire Kim\, celloQiang Tu\, celloSumire Kudo\, cello \nPROGRAMSEight Chinese Folk Songs (1998)\, Zhou Long (b. 1953)I. SUMMARY:AAPI Art and Power Intersect: Creative Media for Advocacy
DESCRIPTION:Hear from artists who uplift AANHPI voices\, help inform our communities\, and advocate for our rights through their work at this virtual event on Friday\, May 30th 2 PM – 3 PM ET. As we close out Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM)\, we reflect on how AAPI women and gender expansive people use diverse media to empower our communities and inspire acts of resistance\, throughout history and today. We’ll discuss the power of art in movements and why this is especially resonant with and critical for AAPI communities. Panelists will discuss how AAPI artists are using their platforms to change the world; the idea that art is intrinsically “political”; and the history of art in movement work. There will be time for Q&A at the end of the panel. Please register to be able to submit questions.\n\n\nPanel: \n\nNatalie Bui\nJanet S. Kim\nAmanda Phingbodhipakkiya
