DESCRIPTION:AAPIP is convening a funder briefing to address what the Callais decision means\, what organizations need\, and where philanthropy can act before 2026 election maps are finalized. \nThe Callais Decision Is Already Redrawing Maps. Here’s What Funders Need to Know \nOn April 29\, 2026\, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a 6-3 ruling in Louisiana v. Callais that effectively dismantled Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. The decision raised the legal bar for challenging discriminatory voting maps\, a standard Congress had explicitly lowered in 1982 because it was too high. \nThe consequences are already in motion. Louisiana halted an active primary election to redraw congressional maps. Alabama\, Florida\, Georgia\, Mississippi\, South Carolina\, and Tennessee have initiated or are actively considering emergency redistricting sessions. The maps being drawn now will likely have an immediate impact on midterm elections\, with longstanding implications for future election cycles. \nAANHPI communities in the South are part of this fight. In Georgia\, North Carolina\, Texas\, and Virginia\, AANHPI voters have helped shift competitive congressional seats. The same legal standard that previously protected Black voters from discriminatory mapping also protected AANHPI voters. He won the ADC Young Guns award and recently received the prestigious Paul Manship Medallion for significant contributions to the Art Directors Club and the creative industry. \nTu received his BFA in Communication from Rutgers University and a Masters Degree in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York. DESCRIPTION:The Asian American Education Project is excited to announce that applications are now open for our Summer 2026 Educator Cohort—taking place this July! This program is open to all K–12 educators across the United States who are passionate about inclusive education and culturally responsive teaching. \nThe theme of this cohort\, Together We Rise\, explores the rich history of cross-racial solidarity within APIDA communities in the United States as it only makes us stronger together. It will examine historical milestones\, shared struggles\, and partnerships that have shaped and strengthened solidarity between APIDA communities and other racial groups\, such as Latinx and Asians uniting and organizing together for the advancement of workers’ rights. From early immigration waves to contemporary movements for social justice and equality\, the program highlights the ongoing contributions of APIDA individuals and groups in building a more inclusive and equitable society. The APIDA community is diverse\, with each group and partnership contributing unique experiences to the broader story of solidarity and collaboration. \nParticipants of the Forgotten No More: An APIDA Professional Learning Experience will engage with The Asian American Education Project’s (AAEdu) curricular resources. Our cohort model provides participants the opportunity to work with others who are committed to gaining a deeper knowledge of and an increased competence in teaching APIDA content. This program combines virtual engagement via Zoom and asynchronous learning via our learning management system. As part of a supportive community\, participants will be guided toward implementing inclusive lesson plans addressing APIDA topics. Participants will be equipped with the tools needed to not only teach APIDA history effectively but also diversify their curriculum in order to celebrate the rich diversity of Asian American and Pacific Islander cultures. \nProgram Objectives \n\nCultural Competence – Educators will enhance their knowledge and competence in teaching APIDA history and content in regards to cross-racial/cultural solidarity.\nInclusive Teaching – Educators will be equipped with the skills and tools needed to implement inclusive\, culturally responsive lesson plans that integrate APIDA content across subjects and grade levels. \nImpactful Application – Educators will learn how to navigate AAEdu’s website and resources and customize these assets into impactful student-centered classroom practices.\n\n  \nEligibility \n\nParticipants are current educators in a K-12 setting\, public\, charter\, private\, etc.\nParticipants must use and incorporate AAEdu’s APIDA curricular resources within their respective contexts\, such as in-class instruction\, professional development/training\, etc.  \nParticipants must be available for all the live sessions in July 2026 (specific dates are listed below) in order to be able to attend each and every session\, on time and in its entirety. \n\nParticipants must agree to all the terms and conditions listed below.

Miyo taught English Language Arts in NYC public schools for fifteen years. DESCRIPTION:Unlock the Findings in our Live Webinar \nTo learn more about what comes next for AAPIs across NYC’s five boroughs and identify opportunities for collaboration\, join us for a webinar on Thursday\, August 6 at 8am PT/11am ET. Hosted by Shamina Singh\, TAAF Board Member and Founder and President of the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth\, we’ll dive into how to turn the findings into solutions. Kindly RSVP to events@taaf.org. \nTAAF Launches State of AAPIs Research Series to Shed Light on the Lived Experiences of AAPIs\nTAAF launched the State of AAPIs research series\, beginning with a national report to set a baseline of the lived experiences of AAPIs across the country and paired with a first-of-its-kind\, borough-level primary data analysis of AAPIs in New York City. TAAF will draw on these findings to convene leaders across sectors and drive solutions through the TAAF Cities initiative. \nThe State of AAPIs national report offers an in-depth look at how AAPIs are navigating economic insecurity\, safety concerns\, and feelings of belonging across the country. According to a nationally representative survey of 1\,500 AAPI adults:  https://taaf.org/our-work/state-of-aapis-national-report \n\n51% struggled to save money or build financial security in the past 12 months\, a figure that rose to 60% or higher among Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI)\, Vietnamese\, and Korean respondents.\n31% struggled to access safe and stable housing and 30% received government or community assistance in the past year\, with nearly as many (28%) reporting difficulty accessing those benefits.\nMore than half adopted avoidance behaviors\, such as carrying identification or avoiding certain places out of fear of bias from police or immigration officials\, rising to 62% among Vietnamese respondents.\n\nThe State of AAPIs New York City report presents a borough-level analysis of the experiences and needs of AAPIs in the city. TAAF surveyed 1\,400 AAPI residents across all five boroughs and found: https://taaf.org/our-work/taaf-nyc#state-of-aapis-report \n\n59% struggled to save toward a financial future\, and 50% worried about affording essentials like food\, housing\, and utilities\, in the past year.\nMore than 1 in 3 AAPIs (37%) experienced adverse treatment in the past year in their borough\, including: being insulted or called names; being harassed or threatened; being victim to physical attack; and being unfairly stopped\, searched\, questioned or abused by police.\nMore than 1 in 4 AAPIs said they faced challenges related to voting (27%)\, accessing immigration services (28%)\, and everyday communication due to language barriers (29%) in the past year.\n\n  \n
