Stop by the Asian American Writers’ Workshop’s edit-a-thon on February 28 and March 1 to learn how to confidently edit Wikipedia; work on pages for books\, authors\, and other pressing topics in the diaspora; and hang out with people in New York City’s Wiki community! \nPlease bring a device you can edit on—laptops are best\, but mobile devices work too. \nThis is a two-day event –  \nSaturday\, February 28 between 11am and 6pm ET\, and  \nSunday\, March 1 – between 11 am and 6 pm ET. Feel free to register for one or both dates! \nLunch and dinner will be provided for those who stay and participate. \nThis event is supported by the Wikimedia Foundation and is hosted by Museum of Chinese in America.\n__ \nCOMMUNITY CARE & ACCESSIBILITY \nAt AAWW\, the safety and comfort of our community is our top priority. There is safety in numbers. The more bystanders trained in these skills\, the more effective our interventions can be. \nSign up as an individual or with 3-5 of your friends\, family\, coworkers\, neighbors etc. to join you in this training. At the end of this training\, self-guided scenarios will be provided for you to continue sharpening your de-escalation skills. Practicing is crucial for being able to use these skills in real life and de-escalation is much stronger when more of our community is trained up in it. \nWe can Protect Our People and protect ourselves. In order to embed Racial Equity into all of our day to day operations as well as our responses in this moment we must continue to hold fast to a commitment that enables us to learn\, grow and practice racial equity work together. \nAs the world continues to adapt to the pandemic\, we will continue to offer virtual learning spaces that center on normalizing\, organizing and operationalizing racial equity into our work at every intersection. \nThe Virtual Building Racial Equity series\, developed by Race Forward: The Center for Racial Justice Innovation\, are interactive trainings for those who wish to sharpen their skills and strategies to address systemic racism and advance racial equity. Unlike “diversity trainings” which primarily focus on interpersonal relations and understanding\, these trainings emphasize how to challenge and change institutional racial inequities. \nBuilding Racial Equity: Foundations is the first and “foundational” training of the series. Participants will build on and strengthen racial equity practices for themselves and their organizations and networks. This training will introduce participants to concepts\, frames\, and tools that are essential to a productive racial equity practice.
