SUMMARY:Noguchi’s New York
DESCRIPTION:In 1922\, Isamu Noguchi first moved to New York—a city that would remain his on-again\, off-again home for the remainder of his life. Though he was an avid traveler who built meaningful connections and temporary homes around the world\, Noguchi always returned to New York. It was here that he created some of his most iconic artworks and imagined countless others. \nThis exhibition examines Noguchi’s deep and dynamic relationship with New York City\, exploring how its material\, cultural\, social\, and political landscape indelibly transformed his artwork and thinking\, and how he in turn transformed the city. It also highlights Noguchi’s unflagging attempts to give back by sculpting communal spaces for exploration and play—efforts often thwarted\, most notably by the influential NYC Parks Commissioner Robert Moses. \nNoguchi’s New York encompasses more than 50 works\, including sculptures\, project models\, photographs\, and archival materials. The exhibition also brings to life Noguchi’s visions for unrealized playgrounds and playground equipment through a series of hand-painted animated films by Jack Cunningham and Nicolas Ménard of Eastend Western. \nOrganized on the 40th anniversary of The Isamu Noguchi Foundation and Garden Museum\, this exhibition celebrates the Museum itself as one of Noguchi’s most profound gifts to this city he called home. \nPhoto credit: Isamu Noguchi\, 1980

SUMMARY:Dreamer's Perspective: Through My Lens
DESCRIPTION:For the third year in a row\, the Center for All Abilities (CAA) is hosting a summer arts showcase\, dedicated to platforming the art of neurodivergent and special needs individuals. This year’s show\, “Dreamer’s Perspective: Through My Lens\,” is focused on portraits\, self-portraits\, and reflections of self-identity — how you see yourself\, how you move through the world\, and what makes you who you are. We encourage artists to share work that reflects personal experience\, perception\, and the many ways people navigate and express their inner worlds. This exhibition aims to create a space for thoughtful\, authentic\, and expansive representations of selfhood and lived experience. \nThe Center for All Abilities is a nonprofit based in Manhattan’s Chinatown which serves as a supportive resource for the special needs community\, particularly among Chinese immigrant families. We provide creative arts therapy\, vocational training\, and community-based programming and workshops to support the whole family. \nThis exhibition is in collaboration with Long Story Short Galleries\, which generously provides their venue and support. The show is also in partnership with Extreme Kids and Crew\, a nonprofit which provides a welcoming\, supportive space for young people with disabilities\, their families and friends\, to connect\, create and learn.
