Set to an evocative blend of electronic and Chinese classical music\, the work unfolds as a dialogue between tradition and modernity\, where stillness and motion\, struggle and hope\, coexist. \nFounded in 2017 by choreographer LAI Hung-chung\, Taiwan’s HUNG DANCE is known for its lyrical precision and spiritual intensity. Premiered in the U.S. at the American Dance Festival in 2014\, BIRDY has since toured internationally\, continuing to engage audiences through its physical and emotional depth. \n“BIRDY explores what it means to feel constrained\, and how we continue to move despite it.”  —Lai Hung-chung\, Artistic Director & Choreographer \nAbout HUNG DANCE\nHUNG DANCE is a Taiwanese contemporary dance company founded in 2017 by Artistic Director and choreographer LAI Hung-chung. Inspired by the word “Hung (翃)\,” the company’s name reflects its aspiration to soar. Focusing on annual productions\, international collaboration\, and tours\, HUNG DANCE also organizes the Stray Birds Dance Platform to foster choreographers’ creativity and connect emerging artists with global resources. \nThe company has received numerous awards for its exceptional choreographic pieces\, including Watcher\, BIRDY\, and Push and Pull in renowned competitions and festivals worldwide. With over 300 performances\, HUNG DANCE has toured extensively across five continents\, engaging diverse audiences through its distinct physical language. \nHUNG DANCE’s performances are a unique blend of traditional and contemporary elements\, inviting audiences to interpret\, imagine\, and embrace dance’s timeless beauty.
